Lavender: Low Maintenance

Lavender is truly an easy-care plant, but you still need to find the right location for it in your yard: one that’s sunny and protected from the wind, if possible – this last part is particularly important for successfully overwintering the plant. The soil should be nutrient-poor, dry, and sandy. No matter what, it should have good drainage, since lavender does not do well at all with standing water. For the plant to thrive, it’s a good idea to mix a bit of garden lime into the soil once or twice a year.
